The Zeiss LSM 800 with Airyscan is a compact scanning confocal LSM 800 system on an upright stand. The system is available for users at LUDC, Lund University, and external users based on approval.

Short description of the system

Our compact point scanning confocal LSM 800 is on an upright stand. The microscope is motorised in z and has a motorised reflector turret but a manual objective nosepiece. It is equipped with objectives for 5x, 10x, 20x and 63x (oil) magnification, DIC, epifluorescence to locate your sample and a manual xy stage. The scan head has two PMT detectors and a variable secondary dichroic which allows the user to fine tune the wavelengths that should be detected. Lasers for excitation at 405, 488, 561 and 640 nm are included. The system also has a detector for transmitted light. Finally it includes an Airyscan detector which gives 1,7x higher resolution in x, y, z. The Airyscan detector can also be used as a single highly sensitive GaAsP detector. A workstation and the ZEN software to control the system are included.

Access to the system

This system is available for users at LUDC, Lund University as well as external users. The microscope is located at CRC in Malmö and users need granted permission to enter the room. All users must undergo a tutorial in order to use the system and sign an agreement. Please contact Anna-Maria Dutius Andersson for questions about access and tutorial.

Charges and user fees

We aim to cover service and running costs by charging users an hourly fee.

User fees

Users affiliated with LUDC: 0 SEK/hour
Other users at Lund University: 400 SEK/hour
External users: 1,200 SEK/hour

Additional fees for assistance

We will charge an additional 1,000 SEK/hour for assistance (users at LUDC and Lund University)
We will charge an additional 2,000 SEK/hour for assistance (external users)

Acknowledgement

The system was purchased with support from the strategic research area EXODIAB (Excellence of Diabetes Research in Sweden). EXODIAB is a strategic research area at Lund University and Uppsala University. Please remember to acknowledge EXODIAB in publications, whenever you have used our equipment.
