The Olympus Slideview VS200 is a complete system for scanning of entire microscopy slides.

Our Olympus Slideview VS200 is a complete system for scanning of entire microscopy slides. The system is based on the Olympus motorised scanner system with high-resolution cameras and special software for whole slide imaging. The system is available for users at LUDC, Lund University and external users based on approval.

Short description of the system

The Olympus Slideview VS200 universal whole slide imaging scanner is designed for high-resolution, quantitative analysis of sectioned and stained tissue samples. It supports five observation methods – brightfield, fluorescence, darkfield, phase contrast, and polarised light. These modes can be combined to visualise structures that are difficult to see with standard brightfield illumination.

The scanner uses Olympus' high-performance X Line Objectives, which ensures improved resolution, flatness, and chromatic aberration correction. It features an automatic slide loader that can accommodate 50 slides in one batch (can be expanded up to 200 slides). The VS200 enables smooth zooming from entire tissue samples to single cells through fully automated high-speed scanning and tiling. The VS200 is a versatile and powerful tool for various research applications, including research into diabetes, cardiovascular disease, immunology, brain diseases, cancer, and stem cell studies.

Access to the system

This system is available for users at LUDC, Lund University as well as external users. The slide scanner is located at CRC in Malmö. All users must undergo a training tutorial and sign a user agreement in order to use the system. Please contact Anna-Maria Dutius Andersson for questions about access and tutorial.

Charges and user fees

Users will share the costs for service, service contracts, maintenance and other running costs in proportion to their usage time. The costs for individual users will be calculated and billed at the end of the year. Costs are estimated to be around SEK 100 per hour but are subject to change until the cost of maintenance and the user volume have been established.

User fees for training and additional assistance

Users affiliated with LUDC: Free of charge
Other users at Lund University: SEK 1,000 (an additional SEK 1,000 per hour will be charged for additional assistance)
External users: SEK 2,000 (an additional SEK 2,000 per hour will be charged for additional assistance)

Acknowledgement

The slide scanner was purchased with support from the Mats Paulsson Foundation.
