Study on Covid-19 among healthcare professionals

Our latest study on COVID-19 transmission risk among healthcare professionals, a collaboration between Prof Magnus Rasmussen (Dep. of Infection Medicine) and Associate Professor Yang De Marinis (Dep. of Clinical Sciences).

The study was conducted on ~500 healthcare professionals and staff members from 9 units at the Skåne University Hospital in Malmö and Lund, as well as non-medicine related departments at Lund University. The COVID-19 antibodies were measured by ZetaGene antibody test. The study revealed surprising findings that the healthcare professionals working at COVID-19 units have 4.5-fold higher infection rate than those work at non-COVID-19 units. We also confirmed inter-hospital transmission between patient-healthcare professionals, as well as transmission among hospital staff. This study therefore highlights the importance of improving protective measures and routines, to best protect our medical staff. The study was recently presented at "State of the Art Covid-19" conference held by Svenska Läkaresällskapet (the Swedish Medical Association).
