The research group Nutritional Epidemiology has started a blog, www.nutrition.blogg.lu.se!
Esther González-Padilla tells us more about it.
What is the blog about?
We have started the blog mostly as a tool to inform people, within and outside Lund University, about the news of our group, our projects and activities. But in the future it might also serve as a platform to share and discuss hot topics and discoveries about nutritional science. Our plan for now, is to help increase our group’s visibility and to be able to start a debate about our science and projects.
How did you come up with the idea of a blog?
I am very interested in science communication and public outreach, so I had been toying with the idea of creating my own science blog for a while. But when I talked to Emily about it, we thought it would be a great idea to have blog for the group instead. So, while I took the administrator role (with the help of Mary Farrell first, and now Suzanne Janzi) the whole group participates in posting their stories and news and this provides a wider look into the field of Nutritional Epidemiology.
How did you go about to start blogging (from where did you get the tool and support)?
It was actually a fairly easy process, once we knew what had to be done. We got permission from the prefect and then applied through the form on the Staff Pages, where you can also find some more information about the process. Lund University works with an already set template on WordPress, that it’s a little bit tricky to navigate for the first few weeks, but now that we have got the hang of it, it is quite easy to make adjustments and allows a lot of flexibility to adapt to the type of content we want to share
Where do I find the blog?
You can find us at www.nutrition.blogg.lu.se. Make sure to subscribe to our mailing list to receive a monthly update on our news and activities!
