"Role of astrocytic metabolism on brain function and connectivity"
In this project, we will use state-of-the-art MRI methods on an astrocyte-specific PGC-1α knock-out (KO) mouse model in order to investigate roles of metabolism in astrocytes within hypothalamic function.
The overall purpose of this study is to investigate the role of astrocytic metabolism in supporting hypothalamic function and connectivity. In particular, this project aims at: (1) determining the impact of genetic manipulations of astrocytic mitochondria regulators on brain structure, function and metabolism; (2) investigating how the lack of functional astrocytic mitochondria confers susceptibility to psychosocial and metabolic stressors.
