Swedish Case-Control replication sample

A Swedish case-control cohort consisting of 2 830 T2D patients and 3 740 normoglycemic control subjects was used to test for association with T2D.

Cases, T2D patients were selected from the The Scania Diabetes Registry (SDR/DR) and 3,740 controls from the Malmö Diet and Cancer study (MDC) in Southern Sweden. All cases had Scandinavian origin, age at onset > 35 years, C-peptide ≥ 0.3 nmol/l and no GAD Ab.

Controls were as well Scandinavians and defined as having fasting blood glucose <5.5 mmol/L, and HbA1c measurements < 6.0%.
