Katharina Herzog
Visiting research fellow

Katharina obtained her PhD as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher at the Laboratory Genetic Metabolic Diseases at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in December 2017. Currently, Katharina is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Analysis and Synthesis, Department of Chemistry, at Lund University. Her long-standing research interests are the increased understanding of human metabolism, with a focus on prevention, diagnosis, and clinical perspectives of human metabolic diseases. Other key interests are the development and application of metabolomics techniques and bioinformatics tools for patient-oriented research.
In her current project as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Peter Spégel, Katharina aims to investigate the role of metabolism in the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes using metabolomics and lipidomics approaches.
