Current project

Mechanisms and signaling pathways underlying development of cystic fibrosis related diabetes.

It is theorized the paracrine signals from the exocrine pancreas leads to alpha- and beta cell failure in CF patients and diabeetes development. This project wills tudy the effects of exosomal microRNA from the exocrine pancreas on endocrine cells and mechanisms through which beta cells dysfunction can occur.

Background

Efraim has medical degree from Lund University as well as a Master thesis project on microRNA-205-5p conducted at German Institute for Human Nutrition Potsdam. Efraim also has technical experience with the patch clamp technique from the Islet Cell Exocytosis group.
