Lund University Diabetes Centre’s 20th Anniversary Symposium
Since Lund University Diabetes Centre in Sweden was formed 20 years ago, the centre has been committed to improving the quality of life for people with diabetes. To commemorate the 20th anniversary we invite you to join our celebration in Malmö.
Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are major health challenges for our society. 20 years ago, Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC) was formed to facilitate all aspects of clinical, translational, and basic research with the goal to improve the quality of life for people suffering from diabetes.
Today, junior and senior researchers work together at LUDC in a vibrant research environment consisting of around 30 research groups at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, in Lund and Malmö. Many of LUDC’s research group leaders have positions at Skåne University Hospital, which help ensure that insights from the lab can be translated into clinical practice. Our organisation for early career researchers, LUDC Early Career Network (LUDC ECN), help facilitate their career development and the freedom to pursue innovative ideas that will shape the future of diabetes care.
Our centre is well-known for several major research contributions, for example classification of people with diabetes into subgroups, studies of various diabetes-related autoantibodies in children with a high risk of developing type 1 diabetes, and for establishing clinical cohorts and sample collections that enable advanced diabetes research.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of LUDC, we are inviting some of the world's most distinguished diabetes researchers to Malmö to discuss new developments and research questions. This two-day symposium will not just look back at the last 20 years but also discuss the future of diabetes research.
