Title
From Genetic Variants to Mechanisms in Adipose Tissue: Deciphering Cardiometabolic Disease
Introduction
Genome-wide association studies have identified thousands of genetic risk loci associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and related cardiometabolic disorders. These variants hold the key to specific insights into disease mechanisms at the tissue and cellular levels. However, the functional interpretation of these variants remains a daunting challenge. This talk will discuss the current obstacles and emerging strategies for translating genetic variants into a deeper understanding of cardiometabolic disease. The talk will particularly focus on disease traits closely tied to adipose tissue function, such as body fat distribution and insulin resistance.
