CRC seminar
The CRC seminars bring up current medical research by researchers at Clinical Research Center (CRC), Lund University, and invited guests.
Speaker: prof Marten Trendelenburg, University of Basel, Switzerland
Title: Autoantibodies against Complement C1q in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Host: Anna Blom
Prof. Trendelenburg is the Deputy Head of the Division of Internal Medicine. In Basel, all internal medicine inpatients are cared by the same clinic with subspecialists (Cardiology, Nephrology etc.) being involved as consultants if required; the Division of Internal Medicine takes care of all these internal medicine inpatients which present with a large variety of diseases incl. for example all the COVID-patients). In parallel, Marten is leading a research group of Clinical Immunology at the Department of Biomedicine focusing on translational research to elucidate pathogenic mechanisms in systemic autoimmunty. Within this rather large field of research, he is focused on studying anti-C1q antibodies which proved to combine many aspects of autoimmunity, i.e. link to apoptosis, macrophages, hemostasis, EBV infection any maybe more.
Marten is visiting Lund University for short sabbatical and is interested to discuss with researchers on various subjects of translational medicine, in particular clinical immunology and complement.
