The LUDC seminars bring up current medical research by researchers at Clinical Research Centre (CRC), Lund University and invited guests.
Speaker
Qiaoli Wang, assistant professor, Lund University, Integrative Pancreatic Cancer Research (iPanCare) Lab
Title
Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer with Multimodal Approaches
Abstract
Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Europe and the United States. Its high mortality is largely attributable to late-stage diagnosis in approximately 85% of patients, resulting in a dismal 5-year survival rate. This underscores the urgent need for effective strategies for early detection. However, disease heterogeneity poses major challenges. To address this, integrative research approaches are essential. In this talk, Dr. Wang will present her recent work on risk stratification and early detection of pancreatic cancer, leveraging multi-dimensional data and advanced analytic methodologies applied to large population-based cohorts, biobanks and clinical imaging.
Host
Professor Hindrik Mulder
Introduction
Dr. Qiaoli Wang (MD, PhD) is an Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University and Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) Group Leader in Precision Medicine and Diagnostics in SciLifeLab, Sweden. Her research interest is to develop strategies for individual risk stratification and early detection, as well as precision medicine approaches for pancreatic cancer.
